Is my boyfriend controlling or abusive?

the other night my bf and I had a huge fight over the phone which left me in tears. He was yelling and screaming at me. I feel he could have calmly told me what he wanted to say but he didn't. Could anyone tell me the signs of an abusive boyfriend? I would also like to know what the signs are for a controlling boyfriend are b/c he seems to be that way too. I told him I was unhappy in the relationship and that I want to break up. He on the other hand said "ur not unhappy, ur happy stop thinking negatively!" It wasn't negative on my part I just think he's not thinking about this clearly. He wants the relationship to keep going but I don't. I have heard that relationships that are controlled (esp by the man) in the situation only spiral downward if not taken care of asap! I want to leave right now, but I need help! Any help with this would be most appreciative, thank you!
